Former Ajax Chief Librarian Endorses McAleer

"Kurtis McAleer is a new face in local politics. He brings a fresh outlook to the important local matters facing our community; property taxes, the waterfront, growth, transit, community safety and seniors’ services. Kurtis will provide the residents of Ward 4 with thoughtful attention to the issues that will arise during the coming municipal term. He has my vote and I urge everyone who feels that a change is needed in our local government to give him your support on October 27th."

We Can Do Better!

An interesting read for Ajax residents. Money Sense's Best Medium Sized Cities to Live in.

The article shows that Ajax has the second highest population growth between 2008-2013. Population has increased by over 20% in just five years. Our Council failed at curbing urban sprawl.

Ajax also ranks second highest when it comes to property taxes and to top it off we rank seventh highest in unemployment (8.7%)

Overall Ajax ranks 38th out of 46 cities.

McAleer Commits to Breakfast Programs in All Ward Four Schools

Today, my campaign is announcing my support in establishing a breakfast program in every school in Ward Four.

I believe that every child should be entitled to eating a healthy and nutritious breakfast every morning before they go to class and learn.

As Your Councillor, I would work with the local school boards, trustees, parent and student councils as well as local businesses to get these programs off the ground as quickly as possible.

I am also committing to personally donate $250.00 to every school in Ward Four as start-up money towards a full-time Breakfast Program when I'm elected as Councillor.

As the late Nelson Mandela once said, "there can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in which it treats its children."

I look forward to being elected on October 27th so I can begin working on this very worthwhile initiative.

Congratulations Mr. Ajax

I want to extend my sincere congratulations to MPP Joe Dickson on his re-election in Ajax-Pickering.

Joe is nicknamed Mr. Ajax (and rightfully so) because of his deep roots in our community and his dedication to the people of this riding and specifically, Ajax.

I hope when everyone enjoys the Home Week fireworks on Sunday that they remember it is Joe Dickson who has made Home Week happen for over forty years.

I look forward to working with Joe and hearing his concerns this municipal election as he is a Ward Four resident.

----

I also want to congratulate my dear friend, Todd McCarthy. Todd ran a great campaign and kept to the issues of the election.

Todd would have made a fine MPP because of his deep passion for our riding of Ajax-Pickering. I've known Todd for quite awhile and I've always commended his commitment to our community and all of his fundraising efforts for local causes.

I don't think we've seen the last of Todd McCarthy!
